06.03.16The U.S.Stones rock on the banks of the Ohio River

PARKERSBURG – The Point Park Concert Series kicked off its first concert of the summer with a bang Friday night.
The U.S. Stones, a Rolling Stones tribute band, performed at the Point Park amphitheater before a large crowd. People in a handful of boats watched from the Ohio River.
Mark Alan, the band’s guitarist, said, “We have heard a lot of great things about this event and we are extremely honored to be invited to perform to all these amazing people."
“This is a great event. My husband and I have been going to it for the past five years," said Jessica Stern of Parkersburg.
The Point Park Concert Series is a free-admission event. Hosted by the Downtown PKB on the first Friday of the month throughout the summer, different bands perform each month. This is the fifth year for the concert series.
Wendy Shriver, Downtown PKB executive director said, “The concert series is a great way for local businesses to promote themselves by becoming a sponsor of our series." Reserved seat sales, sponsorship and any donations to Downtown PKB help defray the costs to offer free concerts to the community, she said.
“We are thankful for the great volunteers that help us with our events; without their assistance we wouldn’t be able to provide these amazing events," said Larry Johnson, president of Downtown PKB.
Last year’s concerts had an average of 1,800 to 2,000 people, said sound engineer Chris Hogset. “I believe this is a wonderful event; it brings people downtown and I hope the city and the Downtown PKB Committee do this every year," he said.
“This is a great event for everyone; we have as much fun putting on the show as everyone that is watching," said Geoff Urbaniau, the stage manager for Event Designs Productions. Event Designs Productions is in charge of setting up the stage, the lights, the sound equipment, and all other aspects of the show.
The other performances will feature Pirate Flag (Tribute to Kenny Chesney) on July 1, The Donna Summer Experience (Tribute to Donna Summer) on Aug. 5, and Panama (Tribute to Van Halen) on Sept. 2. The shows begin at 8 p.m.

08.28.15Kimberly Horrick Memorial Fund

Please read this post and contribute to this cause for our own Bill Horrick.

From Dee-Troit: "Kimberly Horrick was an amazing soul, lover of music, fun, and adventure. Her adventure with us, and her loving husband Bill, is now over but we will keep her memory alive, and bright within us.
She was, and will always be Bill's world…

As many of you know, Bill is legally blind. Kim was more than his partner in life, she was his rock, and he is going to be lost without her.
All we can do now is to help Bill with this transition in his life. It will be a tough journey, as Kim did so many things for Bill. The next few months will be very trying, and this is why we have started this Go Fund Me page. Bill will need financial help, as well as all the help that we can give him as friends, and loved ones.

Kim's wish was to have her ashes spread with her family. Part of this money will go towards her cremation, memorial, and to help Bill bring her home. What's left will help Bill's family and friends keep him in his home, and keep the lights on while we work towards social service options to supplement him. The next few months will be hard enough without the financial worries.

Please help us say goodbye to our Dear Kim, and show our love and support to our friend Bill."

08.26.15Kimberly Horrick - R.I.P.

"The One remains, the many change and pass; Heaven’s light forever shines, Earth’s shadows fly; Life, like a dome of many-coloured glass, stains the white radiance of Eternity, until Death tramples it to fragments.—Die, If thou wouldst be with that which thou dost seek! Follow where all is fled!" - 'Andonais', Percy Byshee Shelly

It is with heavy hearts that we bring the sad news of the passing of our friend, agent and loving wife of our own Bill Horrick, Kimberly Horrick. She left us and this world last night.

She always made sure that we were taken care and was about quality when it came to our bookings. She was a feisty little thing but she had your back if you were in need. We are proud to have had you as our friend. We miss you already Kim. We\'ll meet up at the great gig in the sky and catch up. For now, we\'ll look after Bill and make sure he hangs in there for you.
Rest In Peace.

Ladies and Gents. We hope y'all had a fabulous weekend. As you might've seen in the previous post, we had a smashing time in Daytona. Honestly, this was probably most enthusiastic audience we've met with at the bandshell.

For the set list, we decided to shake it up and throw in some stuff we've not played in quite some time and a couple of newbies. One was in the form of the 1978 hit single from Some Girls, 'Shattered', and the other was voted by the fans, 1980's 'She's So Cold'.

You're in luck boys and girls. Streaming on our 'Video Rewind' page, we've got a video clip of 'She's So Cold' from this weekend's performance. Courtesy of Mr. Dino Paspalakis from Friends of the Bandshell. Thx for everything Dino!
